Directions to Spring City
Spring City sits in the Sanpete Valley at the foot of the Wasatch Plateau, about 1 mile west of US-89, roughly 100 miles south of Salt Lake City and about 62 miles (just over an hour) from Provo.
- From Salt Lake City: Take I-15 south to the US-89 corridor, then follow US-89 south through Spanish Fork Canyon (past the Thistle ghost town and over the Hill Top summit) into Sanpete Valley. Reach Spring City via SR-117, just off US-89. About 1 hour 50 minutes.
- From Provo: About 1 hour 10 minutes via US-6 and US-89 south.
- From Manti / Ephraim: Follow US-89 north; Spring City is about 18 miles from Manti and 11 miles from Ephraim.
When to visit
Spring
Mild and green, warming from the 50s to 60s°F. A quiet, uncrowded time to visit.
Summer
Warm and dry, highs in the mid-70s to mid-80s°F. The best window for hiking, OHV trails, and outdoor events - also when most events happen.
Fall
Cool and crisp, with valley and mountain color. A favorite season for a scenic drive up Skyline Drive.
Winter
Cold, with January the coldest month (highs around freezing). Quiet and still - a good season for a cozy historic-cottage stay.
Good to know before you go
Is Spring City walkable?
Yes - the historic district is compact and easy to see on foot in an afternoon. Main Street has sidewalks; side streets are quieter and residential.
Can I tour the historic homes inside?
Most homes are private residences. Interior access is generally limited to the annual Heritage Day home tour each May; the rest of the year, enjoy the architecture from the public street.
Where should I eat?
Spring City has two restaurants: Roots 89 Grill (lunch through evening) and Das Café (breakfast & lunch, closed Sun/Mon). Nearby Ephraim and Mount Pleasant have more options for dinner.
What should I pair with a Spring City visit?
The Manti Temple (~18 miles), Snow College and Granary Arts in Ephraim (~11 miles), Palisade State Park, and a scenic drive up Skyline Drive all make for an easy day-trip loop.
